Introduction |
Located only five minutes away from
the Miri Airport and approximately 5km from the city centre is
Sarawak’s latest golf attraction, Eastwood Valley Golf and Country
Club. Newly opened for play in 2005, the international standard
golf facility comprises an 18-hole course designed by the
USA-based Nickles Golf Group Ltd. of San Francisco, California.
Designed with nature in mind, the golf course was carved out of a
forest site preserving its natural setting. It is complemented by
the pristine Seasaw Paspallum fairways running through its natural
tree lines and generous lakes.
A par-72, the 6,630-metre layout with multiple tees is set to
challenge the single-digit handicap golfers and social golfers
alike. The course requires accurate placement of shots in order to
approach the fast Bermuda Tifdwarf greens with both subtle and
dramatic contours and strategically placed bunkers.
The signature hole of the course is the par-three 160-metre 13th,
with its island green – one which reminds golfers of the famous
TPC Sawgrass. Golfers will enjoy their golf game with the comfort
of environmentally friendly electric golf carts. The superior
drainage on the golf course allows golfers to drive their golf
carts onto the fairways presents a must-play agenda for all golf
enthusiasts.
